Namitha, real name Namita.M.Vankawala, the most desirable and wanted girl of Kollywood, born in 1981, hails from a Punjabi-speaking family in Surat, Gujarat. Born to a business man father and her mother a housewife, she is the only daughter to her parents. Namitha has learned karate and was very tomboyish in nature. A pure vegetarian,during her tomboyish days namitha the girl used to eat 8 chapatis for lunch followed by 3-4 Rasgollas and gulabjamoons!!! A tough girl from her school days, wanting to live an ‘on track’ life with discipline, she loved martial arts for a good reason, to get rid of smutty chaser boys. Namitha loves people who stand and fight against the odds and believes that running away would not be a solution to the problems. Namitha pursuied her graduation in English literature from Ratnam Arts College. She was a swimming coach for young kids before her entry to movies.

Namitha started it all from Ramp modelling and was crowned Miss Surat in 1998. Getting the encouragement to fight out, this damsel tried her luck in the Femina Miss India Contest in 2001 and came third, a contest which also saw Trisha Krishnan and Celina Jaitley, who was crowned Miss India Universe. The magical looks helped her to achieve the people's favourite award to win Miss India world title and this publicity helped her to catch onto TV commercials. From then things wasn’t very hard as the modelling background paved her the way to get roles from the Telugu film industry.
